Dr Abhay Vaidya is an anaesthetist by profession. He graduated from the Goa Medical College and completed his postgraduation from the Tata Medical and Research Institute, Mumbai. Subsequently, he obtained Fellowship of the Royal College of Anaesthetists.

Dr Abhay worked as a consultant anaesthetist in India, Gulf countries and the UK. He has been keenly involved in teaching, training and supervision of undergraduates as well as postgraduate medical students and other healthcare workers. He has been an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons of England, University of Manchester and UCLan and has been an associate of the General Medical College. He also worked as a Research Fellow at the University of Bolton.

Dr Abhay has been associated with the activities of NFHW for well over a decade. He is currently working as a tutor in the School of Medicine, UCLan and was instrumental in engaging with the UCLan medical school which resulted in medical and pharmacy students from UCLan participating in the health MOTs. Dr Abhay has a PG qualifications in teaching and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
