The Steering Group of the National Forum for Health and Wellbeing (NFHW) today reviewed the current situation related to the national outbreak of Covid 19 (Coronavirus).

Taking all relevant factors into account it was reluctantly decided that, because of the potential health risk to all those involved in the event, the 19th  Preston Health Mela, due to be held at the University of Central Lancashire on Saturday 4th April will be postponed until further notice.

NFHW thanks all those organisations and individuals who have already committed good-will, time and resources into preparing for this year’s Health Mela.

We will be in touch with you as soon as possible to let you know of our plans for the period following the present crisis.

Reflecting on the current situation, NFHW Chair, Professor Romesh Gupta OBE, Chair writes, “We are so sad that it has been necessary to call off the Health Mela planned for April 4th but our first responsibility is to protect the health of visitors, organisers and contributors. Current events show just how important it is to ensure that individuals and communities understand how to protect and enhance their own health. You can be sure that, when the current crisis is ended, NFHW will be even more active in promoting that understanding.”
