SOUTH RIBBLE BOROUGH COUNCIL HOSTS NFHW’S HEALTH MELA
The National Forum for Health and Wellbeing (NFHW), a registered charity dedicated to public outreach and health promotion since 2001 and celebrating its silver jubilee has collaborated with the South Ribble Borough Council. These two organisations, in partnership with the Leyland Rotary Club, are glad to invite you to the forthcoming Leyland Health Mela to be held at the Civic Centre, Leyland on Saturday 26 September 2026 from 11 am till 3 pm.
For the past 25 years, NFHW has empowered communities across the UK to lead healthier lives. The charity has successfully organised over 70 Health Melas nationwide, attracting more than 20,000 visitors. Its innovative model of community health engagement has also been replicated internationally, demonstrating its global impact.
These Health Melas have consistently been a highlight among NFHW’s annual events, drawing strong participation from local communities and healthcare providers. This year’s event will be graced by the presence of the Mayor of South Ribble Borough Council, Councillor Caleb Tomlinson, Rotarian Annette Ramsden PHF, Rotary District Governor of Cumbria and Lancashire, Mr Paul Foster, MP for South Ribble as Guests of Honour along with representatives of other partner organisations and other dignitaries.
Speaking ahead of the event, Professor Romesh Gupta OBE, Chairman of NFHW, said:

Prof Gupta
“I am delighted to see the organisation grow over the past 25 years from a modest beginning. Over the years, we have built partnerships with several organisations, local health trusts, councils, as well as educational institutions. I am pleased to state that these Health Melas, health seminars, and other activities have made a positive impact on health of the communities. Health MOTs have been accessed by over 10,000 people, with nearly 1,000 requiring further advice from healthcare professionals. Many have also benefited from a holistic approach to care, including exposure to alternative health therapies. This model of community health engagement and empowerment has been widely praised by numerous national dignitaries and replicated overseas.”
Speaking on behalf of the South Ribble Borough Council, Councillor Matthew Tomlinson said

Cllr Caleb Tomlinson
“We’re delighted to be partnering with the National Forum for Health and Wellbeing and Leyland Rotary Club to host this year’s Leyland Health Mela. Bringing together leading health organisations, community groups, and local partners in one place, the event is a fantastic opportunity for residents to access free health checks, expert advice, and support in a friendly and welcoming environment.
“We are proud to support an initiative that encourages people to take positive steps towards better health and wellbeing, and we’re looking forward to welcoming residents from across the borough to what promises to be a fantastic community event.
“This is just one of the many opportunities available to help residents improve their health and wellbeing right here in South Ribble. As a council, we are committed to putting residents first by working with our partners to provide accessible services, support and activities that help people live healthier, happier lives.”
