The idea of a community-based event to promote public health awareness arose in 2001 during discussions between the Gujarat Hindu Society and Professor Romesh Gupta. This led to the formation of the Lancashire Gujarat Health Users’ Forum in Preston.

The LGHUF, of course, went on to become the National Forum for Health and Wellbeing.

This year, the return of our first chief guest, Professor John Ashton, gave us all an opportunity to reflect on just how far the health melas have come.

To coincide with the latest Health Melas in Leyland and Fleetwood, the Forum has published a special commemorative newsletter that highlights some of the key developments and achievements over the last 14 years.
