On 17th May 2014, the University of Bradford will host the city’s second annual Health Mela.
The venue will be the University of Bradford Student Central. (Richmond Rd, Bradford BD7 1DP.)
Organised by a panel of Bradford-based doctors, the event will feature free health checks, information, activities and a variety of entertainments, food and refreshments.
Entrance is free and the event will run from 10am until 4pm. There will be free parking on Longside Lane.
This year’s event is supported by the University of Bradford, Bradford College, Leeds Institute of Medical Education and a variety of professional groups within the NHS. The organisers are grateful for the continuing backing of Rotary International and to an extensive range of other supporters including the City of Bradford MDC. The Chief Guest will be Gerry Sutcliffe MP.
Entertainments will include Bollywood-style dance at 10.10 and a magic show at 2pm, as well as free henna painting and free massage.
There will be refreshments available throughout the day and there will be around 50 stalls, offering information and checks on things like blood sugar, blood pressure and cholesterol. There will also be advice about exercise, alcohol and giving up smoking.
