On 24th November NFHW members Dr Abhay Vaidya, Professor Romesh Gupta and Mr Ravin Shah presented a paper titled ‘Empowering Communities – Health Mela Experience’ at the 14th BIDA International Scientific Congress held in the Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

Professor Gupta outlined in brief the origin of the Health Mela and its progression from the Gujrat Hindu Society to its current form.

Dr Abhay Vaidya highlighted the impact Health Melas has had on the local communities as well as individuals. The concept of Health MOT and opportunities Health Mela offers in bringing together various healthcare providers and users in friendly, non-threatening environment was presented using the various photographs of the event.
Mr Ravin Shah had helped to present the data from the Health MOTs to highlight the impact it has had on different demographics of the population.
The presentation was very well received and presenters were congratulated on the initiative. Many delegates expressed their wish to attend the forthcoming Health Mela as well as be associated with the activities of the NFHW.
