On 21st April, Professor Romesh Gupta received the following message of support from David Simpson, District Governor of Rotary International for Lancashire and Cumbria:
Dear Romesh,
I was delighted that Rotary could be of such strong support for this excellent community event in Preston.
Rotary is a network of business, professional and likeminded people who use their knowledge and experience to try and improve, or even save, the lives of others throughout the world.
David Simpson, District Governor of Rotary International for Lancashire and CumbriaThe idea of a health mela within our local communities is an excellent example of a project that reflects our philosophy in that it encourages individuals to consider their own health and wellbeing and to take steps to ensure that they address any issues drawn to their attention to help improve or prolong their lives.
If only one life was saved on Saturday then it was worthwhile – I am sure that, given the width of care and support on offer with all the various organisations etc, then we may have saved many.
I am convinced that Rotary will continue to support these ventures for many years to come and I look forward to our work with you in developing a similar event in Blackpool later this year.
Best wishes and thanks to you and all those who were involved with organising the Preston Health Mela – another great success.
Regards
David H. Simpson
