A family invitation to celebrate community health and wellbeing at the Tatton Community Centre, on Saturday September 28th, 2019 – 11.00 am – 3.00 pm.
Healthy families are the key to community wellbeing. It’s good to know then, that Chorley Tatton Community Centre is to host an event which provides the ideal opportunity to check out first-hand all the latest ideas for healthy local living.
The Chorley Health Festival on Saturday, September 28th will be opened at 11.00 am by the Mayor of Chorley, Cllr. Hasina Khan.
Visit the Centre between 11.00 am and 3.00 pm and you will find that The National Forum for Health and Wellbeing, well known for its exciting series of Health Melas, has teamed up with Chorley Council to provide a health event tailored just for you. Entrance, advice and the health checks on offer, are all completely free.
Whether your interest is in arthritis or asthma, rheumatism or relaxation you will find stalls where you can talk to approachable health experts. Using their local knowledge, they can offer information and confidential advice in a friendly and sensitive setting.
You can go on to take a comprehensive and totally free health check to set you up for the Winter months and beyond. This includes checks on height, weight, BMI, blood sugar and cholesterol levels. Results are immediate and you will get confidential personalised advice from a friendly health professional.
The festival isn’t just for adults – bring the whole family along. Children will be interested in preparing a healthy drink on the ‘smoothie’ bike, finding out how a stethoscope works in the ‘Teddy Bear Clinic’ or learning how to handle cyber-bullying.
Finally, when you’ve asked all your questions, had your health checks and drunk your smoothie, why not relax in a peaceful Reiki session. There’s something here for everyone!
For most people from Chorley East or nearby, Tatton Community centre is within easy walking distance (the healthy option!). For those with mobility problems or from further afield, free parking is available on site and locally.
Come and join us – you won’t be disappointed!
Asked about the event, Chorley Mayor, Cllr Hasina Khan said:
“I am delighted that we have been able to bring this exciting health festival right into the heart of the Chorley East community. There is so much that can be done at an event like this not only to spot and deal with health problems before they become serious but also to promote healthy lifestyles. These are the true foundation for individual, family and community wellbeing.
My sincerest thanks go to all the individuals and organisations without whose dedication and efforts an event like this would be impossible”.
