Dear Friend,

As 2022 draws to a close it is good to have this opportunity to write to you all to thank you for your continuing support during the year. Although the lingering presence of COVID 19 has resulted in yet another pause in our Health Mela programme, we have continued, through a series of on-line and face to face seminars, to make a dynamic contribution to community engagement in health promotion. Please accept my sincere thanks for all the support and assistance we have received from you which has allowed us to achieve this positive outcome. Thankfully the outlook is brighter now, and constraints associated with the pandemic are easing. So, as a step back to normal for our activities in 2023, we plan to reintroduce Health Melas with an event in the traditional style to be held on Saturday, March 18th hosted by our partners at UCLan.

Partnership is at the heart of all our efforts in health promotion and I am delighted to put on record the invaluable support we have continued to receive from UCLan and its School of Medicine, Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust, Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust, the North West Ambulance Trust and from so many other organisations and individuals in the local government and voluntary sectors. Thank you for your help and commitment.  Looking to the future, we are very aware that the restructuring of 2022, is bringing radical changes to NHS governance and we look forward to the new opportunities for collaboration in community health promotion that developments associated with integrated care may bring.

NFHW looks confidently forward to the challenges of 2023 and sends you warm Christmas Greetings with Best Wishes for a Happy and Prosperous New Year.

With very best regards,

Professor Romesh Gupta OBE

MD FRCP MBA, Chair NFHW.
