On Wednesday 26 November, Chairman of the National Forum for Health and Wellbeing Professor Romesh Gupta along with Mr Ravi Shah and Dr Abhay Vaidya and Rotarian Kevin Walsh of Rotary International participated in a networking conference aptly entitled “Action for Health Conference”. The conference, organised by Cumbria CVS, was held in Penrith.
A key theme during the day was the need for Communities to take more responsibility for their own Health & Well Being and for Health professionals and their organisations to engage more directly with those communities.
The conference was well attended by several voluntary and statutory organisations and provided a platform to develop closer links with these organisations. The Forum and Rotary International had a small display stand that was attended by a number of delegates who showed keen interest in the work of the Forum and that of the Rotary International. Many organisations expressed willingness to join forces and to work with the Forum and the Rotary International during the forthcoming Health Melas in Cumbria.
Rotarian Kevin Walsh said “The presence of NFHW was welcomed by the organisers and, particularly as we do not have as diverse a population in Cumbria as there is in Lancashire, the insights into eastern culture was particularly commented upon.”

We look forward to working in partnership with many similar minded organisations from Cumbria.
