Don’t miss the chance to attend this unique and exciting event offering friendly but authoritative answers to all the questions you may have on issues of family health and wellbeing. The Mela is organised by the long-established National Forum for Health and Wellbeing, a registered charity, with extensive logistical and professional support from the University of Central Lancashire. It offers an entertaining and thought-provoking opportunity to catch up with all the latest health news, raise your questions with approachable health professionals and maybe take a stress-free health MOT. This confidential check includes measurements of height, weight, cholesterol, blood sugar etc., followed by personal counselling from a friendly health professional, all entirely free of charge.
Just turn up and book in!
The Public opening ceremony at 11.00 am will be conducted by
Chief Guest Sir Mark Hendrick – MP for Preston
Following the formal opening, Sir Mark will invite guests to visit the exhibition. This consists of a spectacular array of nearly seventy information stands with stallholders carrying the very latest news on all the health issues that are of interest to you.
Keep in mind though that the Health Mela’s not just about facts and figures and health checks; it’s also a place to relax and enjoy yourself, so we’ve laid on a host of health-related attractions to keep you entertained.
Here is a glimpse of what’s on offer. You can compare, contrast, and enjoy performances by Indian and Chinese dancers, explore the power of a Reiki session, discover ways to relieve pain without drugs or take part in a workshop to experience the healing power of Yoga. All this while the children are arranging a checkup for their furry friends at the Teddy Bears’ Clinic or pedalling their way to a refreshing drink on the Smoothie Bike!
Further attractions include: a poster competition highlighting young people’s involvement in community wellbeing, and an opportunity to take on the thirty day eating challenge!
